SeeAbility Annual Report

SeeAbility is a UK charity supporting people with sight loss and multiple disabilities. As many of you know, SeeAbility hold regular clinics here at Willow Dene and have been an invaluable resource for the school. Many of our children have been provided with sight tests and spectacles from the charity. The team provide sight tests within an environment that is familiar and comfortable for our children, with staff who know them well and can support them during this experience.

The Children in Focus campaign by SeeAbility wants specialist sight tests available in all special schools. They have found that children with disabilities are 28 times more likely to have a serious sight problem, but are not accessing the eye care needed. We are very proud to be part of this campaign and to be working in partnership with SeeAbility.

On 10th May 2017, three members of Willow Dene staff attended the Children in Focus Campaign event. At the event, SeeAbility launched their third annual report, as well as their information video about Cerebral Visual Impairments (CVI), filmed here at Willow Dene. We are pleased to be working in partnership with them and continue to support their campaign. As a school, we will be assisting in the development and trial of their new school fundraising packs, which aims to promote eye health and the importance of getting glasses on! Look out for more information and further events.

In the meantime, you can find out more about SeeAbility on their website or visit their stand at our information fair on parents evening.
