Willow Dene goes to Goldsmiths

At the end of last Half Term, staff from Willow Dene visited Goldsmiths University to deliver informative presentations to PGCE students who are preparing to go into teaching.

The day began with an Introductory Lecture from one of our Deputy Head Teachers, giving the students of Goldsmiths University some information about our school, our pupils and the provision we provide.

After the lecture, we led five sessions across the day, which students attended in their tutor groups.

Willow Dene staff presented on the following topics:

- ASD Awareness

- Sensory Integration

- Engaging Early Learners

- Pupil Voice

The feedback from students was extremely positive and we were able to answer lots of questions about Willow Dene and about supporting learners with Special Educational Needs.

Over the course of the Spring Term, the student's from Goldsmiths University will also be visiting Willow Dene school in their tutor groups, spending the day with a class and using this opportunity to experience an alternative placement, observe some of the practice mentioned during our presentations and see how our learners engage and respond with provision.

Goldsmiths University highlighted that it is because of the outstanding work that everyone does at Willow Dene that made them want to work with us.
